From books to the athletics track. A journey of commitment and passion that led to a degree in Computer Engineering, the Sardinian triple jump record, and now the "Golden Apple." Sara Zoccheddu, from Oristano, is among the fifteen women who have received the Marisa Bellisario Award , the fourth Sardinian ever to receive the recognition.

Excellent academic results, from graduating with honors from the Mariano IV scientific high school to a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin, then a master's degree from the Polytechnic University of Milan a year ago, and now a doctorate in artificial intelligence from Zurich. The Golden Apple was the classic surprise that crowns the efforts and work of these years. The Marisa Bellisario Award, now in its 37th year, is given to women who distinguish themselves in their professions, science, economics, social work, culture and information, entertainment, and sports, both nationally and internationally. And Sara Zoccheddu was awarded in the "Recent Graduates in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics" category. "Universities recommend students who have distinguished themselves academically to the Bellisario Foundation," explains the computer engineer, "and a selection committee evaluates the applications." Then, interviews with Zucchetti, a leading IT company, took place, and Sara Zoccheddu beat out five other women selected from among forty universities. "It was a tremendous satisfaction," she says. "It was an unforgettable moment to be among the fifteen women awarded, including the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and gymnast Alice D'Amato, who received the Golden Bud."

Years of study have always included sports, Sara Zoccheddu's other great love. Growing up in Atletica Oristano, under the ever-careful and precise guidance of coach Stefano Mascia, she has never neglected track training (she is now also coached by Francesco Crabolu and Rita Schönenberger). She recently won bronze at the indoor championships in Ancona, but more importantly, she set the Sardinian triple jump record of 13.22. "It's a great joy, considering the previous record dated back to 1992," she comments. "Now we're working to prepare for the outdoor championships." A member of CUS Cagliari, her heart remains on the Sacro Cuore track. "I also feel great in Cagliari, but the bond I have with Atletica Oristano is unique. I grew up here and I feel at home."
