A disrespectful act against the lifeguards? Who knows. Between Friday and Saturday, in the seaside village of Torregrande, rescue equipment was stolen from one of the three lifeguard stations, a service operated by the Eleonora d'Arborea Sports Center. Inside the suitcase stolen from the station, located near the tower, were a megaphone, a first aid kit, binoculars, signal flags, life jackets, and life jackets. Fortunately, all the equipment was recovered and returned thanks to the cooperation of several residents who identified it and handed it over to the Police Headquarters. "The equipment was found on the street by passersby, between the Spinnaker campsite and the pier," explains Michele Zucca of the Eleonora d'Arborea Sports Center. "We really can't understand the motive behind this act, especially since stealing this equipment harms the entire community. We're working every day to prevent tragedies at sea. But it also involves a disruption to public services. Fortunately, we always have extra equipment, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to guarantee the necessary equipment was available in case of need. In Torregrande," Zucca continues, "there are many cameras, so perhaps it will even be possible to track down those responsible. Let's hope so. Could it be some kids? Who knows. The suitcase with all the equipment, however, is very heavy." This isn't the first time someone has taken issue with the lifeguards: "Several oars have disappeared during the summer season," adds Zucca. "But we've repeatedly found lifeguard backpacks stained with urine. Civilization no longer exists. I'm calling for more checks on those who work every day to ensure beach safety."
