Many families from Oristano point the finger at the Office "Hospitalizations outside the Region" of the ASL of Oristano, which deals with reimbursing the expenses incurred to reach the hospitals where they perform operations or therapies that are not performed in Sardinia.

Irene is the mother of Emma, ​​a 15-year-old girl who lives with a rare form of encephalitis : «I'm still waiting for reimbursement for expenses incurred in October, when I reached the Bambin Gesù hospital in Palidoro. When I returned they told me that a document was missing, but unfortunately I had my certified copy that I then sent by email. But then this wasn't good either, and yet it was a pre-printed form delivered by them by hand for the previous checks. How come this request wasn't made when my expense authorization was accepted before leaving?».

Irene is a raging river : «Next week, Tuesday, we are leaving again and again I have not received the authorization for the expense from the ASL, which is necessary to then receive the contribution». Irene tells another story: «Last January I asked the usual office to find out what I had been reimbursed for and in the reply email the person in charge mentioned the Gemelli hospital in Rome, but unfortunately my daughter and I have never been there».

Roberta, on the other hand, is the mother of a two-and-a-half-year-old child who needs rehabilitation following a rare genetic disease : "Every hour is important for us - she tells us from Bambin Gesù - when I recently asked the ASL for authorization to spend money on a 40-day hospital stay, I was told that they first had to check whether there was a hospital in Sardinia where cases like my child's have been treated. But we know that unfortunately we have to go away, the specialists say so. Then they accepted the expense. In this way, however, we waste time".
