A 73-year-old man was run over and killed by a train this morning , a few hundred meters from the Oristano railway station.
The Oristano-Marrubiu section has been blocked pending the completion of the investigations by the police, a substitute bus service has already been set up for passengers.
The dynamics of the tragedy are not yet clear, but at the moment the most supported hypothesis is that of the voluntary gesture.
The R21229 Cagliari-Macomer train had just left the Oristano station when, at the height of the level crossing, the 73-year-old driver found himself on the tracks and was unable to do anything to avoid the impact. The man died instantly.
The movement of trains was immediately blocked, the passengers were made to get off the train, refreshed, and then continued their journey on the coaches provided by the Railways.
