This is an important award because it supports the research efforts of young people who dedicate themselves every day to clinical practice , research, and service to patients and the community. It also commemorates Dr. Gisella Masala , founder of the Committee for the Right to Health of the Province of Oristano, who passed away last March. It also commemorates her love for others, her generosity, her strong sense of justice, and her tenacity. Yesterday, at the Museo Diocesano Arborense, the awards were presented to medical researchers who distinguished themselves in the best clinical and preclinical research in the study of the pancreas and the gastrointestinal tract.
An initiative combining civic engagement and academic growth , promoted by the University of Cagliari, the Oristano Local Health Authority, and the Committee. The examining committee, given the high quality of the ten candidates—four resident physicians and six resident physicians—decided to award recognition to all of them. They come from various parts of the island, including a young man from Puglia and one from Umbria. The honorees were resident physicians Alessandra Pia D'Agata, Francesco Loi, Antonio Maccioni, and Claudia Codipietro. Also honored were resident physicians Andrea Pretta, Mara Persano, Eleonora Lai, Pina Ziranu, Stefano Mariani, and Marzo Puzzoni.
The award , worth a total of €12,000, donated by Banca di Arborea, aims to support those working on the front lines of cancer treatment . "We were delighted to see such passionate young doctors deserving of this recognition; for us, they represent the future. Scientific research is incredibly valuable because," said Dr. Clelia Madeddu, oncologist at the Monserrato Polyclinic, "it aims to improve treatment options by providing people with access to new therapies thanks to the opportunities the university can offer by enrolling patients in clinical trials and providing innovative therapies. Research continues and has changed the life expectancy of many patients." Dr. Filomena Panzone of the Oristano Local Health Authority: "A doctor's work is often not limited to working within the facilities, but extends beyond. I thank the Committee for its tenacity in pursuing its goals and for its presence."
