He couldn't accept the end of their relationship. So, after threats to share their intimate videos, an unemployed man took action: the images bounced around the chat rooms of friends and acquaintances. But the victim, a 40-year-old woman, found the courage to report her ex, a 56-year-old from the Oristano hinterland, who is now on trial on charges of "revenge porn" (i.e., the online distribution of sexually explicit images without the consent of the person depicted).

The incidents date back to four years ago, when the woman broke off the relationship. Her ex-partner, however, refused to accept her decision. He initially tried to convince her to get back together, threatening that if she didn't change her mind, he would release videos of their intimate encounters. Shortly thereafter, those videos were sent to the victim's sister, her employer, other friends, and even to a counselor at the Family Center who cared for the woman's son from a previous relationship.

The unemployed man had planned everything in detail: he sent the videos via timed messages, which would self-destruct shortly thereafter. In some cases, however, someone kept a copy, and when the 40-year-old woman learned what was happening, despite being deeply shaken, she managed to find the courage to report her ex. Investigations began immediately, and then the trial opened before Judge Federica Colantonio and Prosecutor Lorenzo Cosseddu. In the previous hearing, the victim was interviewed, followed by an IT technician who reconstructed the video footage. The trial was adjourned until February 15th.
