Less than 24 hours after the evacuation of the Via Piemonte building, local police drone footage shows a horrifying scene: the living room of the third-floor apartment is completely covered in rubble, with a large hole measuring approximately 15 square meters in the roof. What the many onlookers who arrived on Via Piemonte yesterday morning were saying is true: "Thank goodness there was no one in the third-floor apartment at the time, someone would have died." The building, evacuated Thursday night due to the collapse of a significant portion of the roof, is not accessible. The five families who live at number 2 have found temporary accommodation with relatives while they wait to determine where to move next. Some residents, escorted by firefighters, managed to enter the apartment yesterday morning to at least grab their clothes. Then the door to the building, just a few dozen meters from Piazza Italia, was immediately closed. Around noon, the Oristano local police team, experts in using drones, arrived to document the incident from above. The drone took off, reached the roof, paused briefly to take photos and film the entire area, and then returned to the street. This operation piqued the interest of many passersby. "The images will be used by the Municipal Technical Office to prepare a report and assess the extent of the damage. Only then will we be able to determine the necessary measures to restore the building," the police explained. Now, all that remains is to await the outcome of the technical inspections and determine how to continue providing assistance to the affected families.
