"Donating blood is a simple gesture but full of love. It is the most precious and altruistic gift that can be given to others", repeat in chorus the members of the Avis section of Orgosolo, while proudly waving the numbers of a year that will be remembered for a long time. "2024 was a record year for us in terms of donations. With 531 bags of blood collected, our town is among the first places on the island. The percentage of donors is 22.47 percent, referring to 2,363 people of age to donate".

Generosity

A generous center. Famous for its murals, tourism and hospitality. Orgosolo, however, demonstrates once again its altruism, that village complicity recently reaffirmed also during the annual meeting of the members of the Avis section. In front of the provincial president Mario Trazzi, the president of the Orgosolo Avis Antonio Moro presented the record numbers. Then, he revealed a healthy section, capable of reacting decisively to the many adversities faced last year. "2024 was a particularly critical year for the Orgosolo Avis, characterized by two heavy losses - explains Moro -. In fact, the president Antonio Maria Patteri passed away suddenly, first in August; then, in November, also Giovanni Andrea Piredda, a historic member of the board and always with us since 1996, the year the section was born".

Virtuous path

No intention of settling. After a 2024 to remember, Avis Orgosolo looks to the new year with even greater motivation. "We intend to reward and thank our members for their dedication and generosity - continues Antonio Moro -. So, in June we are planning a trip to Alghero, to discover the historical-archaeological sites: we will involve the 50 members who made the highest number of donations in 2024. Furthermore, in collaboration with the Municipality of Orgosolo, and in memory of the unforgettable president Antonio Maria Patteri, the official ceremony for the naming of the Blood Donors square will take place". The board of directors of the Avis Orgosolo section is composed of Antonio Moro and Pietro Menneas, respectively president and vice. Then, by Peppino Rubanu, Nicola Biscu, Maddalena Cossu, Salvatora Cossu, Veronica Dettori, Paola Filindeu and Giovanni Muravera.
