The Ford Fiesta overturned while traveling on state highway 389. A woman from Gairo, a passenger in the small car, was injured and emergency personnel transported her to San Francesco Hospital in Nuoro for checks. The accident occurred around 8:00 a.m. today.
The Lanusei traffic police are currently investigating the incident.
The patrol personnel, coordinated by Inspector Fausto Loddo, responded within minutes, initially determining that the car had overturned without hitting any other vehicles. It is likely that the driver lost control of the Fiesta due to the wet asphalt. At the time, a heavy downpour was hitting that stretch of road, which falls within the Orgosolo area, and the reduced visibility, combined with the wet surface, may have been one of the causes of the accident.
On the route connecting Ogliastra and Barbagia, traffic was slowed in both directions. Firefighters also responded to the scene and secured the area.
The injured person, who remained alert and conscious throughout, was not in serious condition, but the ambulance staff deemed it appropriate to take her to the emergency room to hand her over to the doctors, who performed a series of instrumental tests.
