In Orani, a huge crowd paid their last respects to Tonino Pireddu , the 38-year-old worker murdered on Wednesday evening, around 9.30 pm, in front of his home door, killed with a rifle shot in the back.

The funeral was held in the afternoon, in the church of Sant'Andrea, before a community still in disbelief and devastated by grief.

The parish priest, Gesuino Corraine , invoked faith to overcome enormous pain : "Life doesn't end here, be sure of this. Tonino will watch over you and pray from heaven ," the priest said to Tonino Pireddu's family and his partner, Manuela Porcheddu. He then added: " Let us try to recover human values ."
