She had created a website with insurance offers that were too good to be true . And in fact they weren't. A broker was identified and reported by the police after having defrauded at least six people in the municipalities of Ottana, Orani, Olzai and Sarule. About 3500 euros was the money defrauded from six people.

The operation, launched at the beginning of 2025 and still under investigation to verify whether there were other people defrauded, was conducted by the military of the respective stations under the coordination of the Ottana Company command.

The scammer, using increasingly ingenious techniques, managed to get people to sign fake insurance contracts: the policies, promised as annual coverage for vehicles, turned out to be non-existent or valid for only a few days.

Only the rapid intervention of the Carabinieri, who blocked the fraudulent site and tracked down the author of the scam, prevented the scam from spreading to other victims . The people involved, sensing the deception, refused to provide further sensitive data and turned to the police, starting the investigation.

The woman was reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Nuoro . The Carabinieri, which has long been involved in information and prevention activities against scams, underlines the importance of online caution. Media campaigns and meetings with local communities will continue to combat these increasingly widespread and sophisticated phenomena.
