Seventy day wait between being diagnosed with breast cancer and having surgery.

With a note signed by the national president Marco Scatizzi, the ACOI (Association of Italian Hospital Surgeons), intervenes on the dramatic situation of the Oncologist, calls for "a decisive intervention by the councilorship and by Arnas aimed both at resolving the chronic structural and organizational criticalities del Businco, and to implement extraordinary measures, planned and financed but largely unused in the region, to give quick answers to Sardinian patients waiting to be operated on for breast cancer".

And he recalls how "immediate, targeted and decisive interventions" would be necessary. The solution proposed by the top management of Brotzu is also perplexing, which envisages a diversion of the reconstructive surgical activity to other structures outside Businco.

"The most linear and effective path - the surgeons explain - should be to allow them to complete the surgical treatment in a reasonable time at Businco, a reference point in Sardinia for breast surgery for 40 years".

The health commission

The group leader of the Progressives Francesco Agus. «The serious disservices afflicting Sardinian women with breast cancer are linked to the fact that the two Breast Units, the multidisciplinary breast care centres, have not been guilty of guilt in Sardinia, and to the internal organizational chaos of the Brotzu company, with no department directors , with most of the complex structures without a guide and above all without a governance capable of discerning the indispensable from the superfluous and able to lead the first hospital in Sardinia".
