He faced a significant sentence, charged with robbery and kidnapping. He was implicated in an investigation by the Cagliari Antimafia Department because, according to the charges, in December 2019 he and other people allegedly attacked a Conad supermarket in Ittiri, attempting, unsuccessfully, to open the safe .
The gang had tied up the employees, threatening them with pistols and shotguns before fleeing , having failed. But, in recent days in court, defense attorney Ennio Masu demonstrated that his client had no connection to the case he had been involved in due to a case of homonymy. Born in 1973, he had nothing to do with the real subject of the investigation, who shares the same name but was born a few years later. Two other coincidences further confounded the situation: both were born in Alghero and resided in Ittiri .
For these reasons, the panel, presided over by Giancosimo Mura, with Monia Adami and Sara Pelicci acting as co-chairs, ordered the acquittal for not having committed the crime, as also requested by prosecutor Danilo Tronci. The trial will now have to start over again.
