Calling for "immediate action" to address the "serious critical situation facing the city's waste collection service ," Olbia's Democratic Party councilors have filed a letter addressed to Mayor Settimo Nizzi.
"Olbia is dirty , the service doesn't work, and citizens are paying the price for failed management," the Democrats write. Faced with "evident inefficiencies and clear responsibilities," the Democratic Party representatives add, "the Municipality not only failed to apply the penalties stipulated in the contract to the service provider De Vizia, but actually increased the contract price," resulting in a corresponding increase in taxes paid by citizens.
In the document, the Democrats call for an immediate halt to the Tari increase, the deduction of the increase from the bills already sent, the rescheduling of the second installment, the application of contractual sanctions up to the possible revocation of the contract, and the establishment of a council oversight commission or an open City Council meeting to publicly report on the measures adopted.
"It's time to stop burdening citizens with the consequences of the company's administrative incompetence and inefficiency," they continue, specifying that the decision to increase the contract price has an "unacceptable" justification.
"Motivated on the Anac portal as an 'unforeseeable increase in tourist users for six months of the year,' it is an insult to the intelligence of the citizens: Olbia has been a tourist destination for decades, and talking about an unforeseeable increase is ridiculous," conclude the six Democratic Party councilors, who promise not to rest until measures are taken.
