Bologna returns, Madrid makes its debut, and Naples joins the fleet for Christmas: Spanish low-cost carrier Volotea is intensifying its winter flights departing from the Costa Smeralda. Six winter routes will depart from Olbia Airport, increasing the number of seats available by 75 percent compared to the same period last season.

In addition to Barcelona and Paris, the airline that connects small and medium-sized European cities is also offering flights to Madrid this winter. Among the new domestic winter services are the departure of flights to Naples during the Christmas holidays and the return of flights to Bologna, adding to those already operated to Venice, Verona, and Turin.

"Extending Volotea's base operations to the winter season represents a strategic step for the development of northern Sardinia's airports and builds on a decades-long partnership with the carrier. This increased capacity during the winter months meets residents' mobility needs and improves year-round accessibility. This significantly contributes to the local economy, and is particularly valuable in the context of the seasonal adjustment agreements recently signed with the local municipalities, Chamber of Commerce, and Confcommercio," commented Silvio Pippobello, CEO of Geasar, the company that manages Olbia's airport. "The decision to keep the Olbia base operational year-round is to ensure stable connections from northern Sardinia, when its residents are the main travelers," added Volotea's International Market Director, Valeria Rebasti.
