History and memory: the Municipality of Olbia is updating its street directory by naming previously unnamed spaces after individuals who have contributed to shaping the city's identity. Following requests from several residents, the municipal administration has decided to dedicate the square at the end of Via Castello Pedrese, which the paleontologist helped discover during excavations at the nearby Giants' Tomb of Su Mont'e s'Abe, to the memory of archaeologist Editta Castaldi.
Via Doro Levi has been named after the archaeologist who saved the famous glass necklace from Nazi targets, discovered in Olbia during excavations at the Punic necropolis of Funtana Noa, in the Cabu Abbas area. In the San Nicola neighborhood of Ruinadas, a roundabout will be named after Sebastiano Meloni, who died in 1943 during the air raid on Olbia.
And then, in Santa Mariedda a square will be named after Maria Grazia Cutuli, a journalist killed in Afghanistan in 2001, and in the Pedra Niedda area there will be Piazzale Belveghile due to its proximity to the nuraghe of the same name.
