Due to precarious housing and overcrowding, Olbia's mayor, Settimo Nizzi, has signed two eviction orders. After reports were confirmed by inspections conducted by the local police and the Gallura Local Health Authority, the mayor has taken two urgent measures. The first is to vacate an apartment of just over one hundred square meters, suitable for nine people, which, at the time of the inspection, had eighteen beds and was deemed to have extremely precarious sanitary and hygiene conditions.
The other was to intervene in a residence, measuring just under sixty square meters, suitable for four people, which previously had twenty beds. The measures taken by Nizzi, who announced them a few days ago while outlining a plan to stem the problem of degradation and safety in the city, include immediate eviction and the restoration of sanitary conditions, with disinfection by a specialized firm, and the restoration of habitability of the buildings within fifteen days, with a ban on their use until further inspections to be conducted by the competent authorities.
