Olbia, fire threatens the ring road and industrial area: a Canadair is also on site.

A large fire broke out this afternoon in the countryside outside Olbia, and the flames, which reached the city's western ring road, are threatening the industrial area.

To contain the fire, a light helicopter from the Limbara operations base, a Super Puma from Alà dei Sardi, and a Canadair from Olbia were sent to the scene to collect water from the sea off Pittulongu.

The flames, which are involving a large area of Mediterranean scrub, started in the R. Su Balidone area around 3 pm and quickly spread. The extinguishing operations are coordinated by the DOS of the Olbia Forestry Corps Station.

Two teams of firefighters and Civil Protection volunteers are also working on site.
