Olbia, fight against degradation and crime in San Simplicio: "Now we need more controls."
Mayor Settimo Nizzi announces a crackdownVideo di Giampaolo Cuccuru
The forecourt of the Basilica of San Simplicio often looks like this: littered with trash, including broken bottles and leftovers from lunches and dinners. A state of degradation that is now becoming chronic.
For this reason, the Olbia municipal administration has announced measures. The new video surveillance system will be a valuable ally in identifying those responsible.
Residents, however, are calling for a crime crackdown and more interventions in the neighborhood. Law enforcement's response has focused on drug dealing and checks in bars and nightclubs. A crackdown has also been launched on intolerable situations, with immediate eviction of those sleeping rough. The first effects? For a few days now, blankets and personal items have been disappearing from the sidewalks of Corso Umberto.
