He was stopped and arrested at the port of Olbia with half a kilo of hashish hidden in his car. A 22-year-old man from the province of Rome was arrested.
The operation was conducted by the Guardia di Finanza during checks on passengers and vehicles disembarking from the Moby Tirrenia vessel arriving from Civitavecchia . The checks, intensified in preparation for the Easter holidays at the direction of the Sassari Prefecture, led the officers to focus their attention on a car whose driver immediately appeared very nervous. The situation was further aggravated by the evasive answers given regarding the reason for the trip.
Suspicions prompted the finance police to conduct a more thorough search with the assistance of canine units. The nose of the drug-sniffing dog Dante was crucial, persistently sniffing the vehicle. The subsequent search revealed five blocks of hashish, weighing approximately half a kilo, well hidden in a compartment of the vehicle. The drugs, once placed on the market, could have fetched over €5,000.
