Over 120kg of pebbles, shells and sand . It is the loot seized in June and July by Customs Agency officials at the port of Olbia from tourists who, after spending their holidays in Sardinia, returned home with natural souvenirs stolen from the island's beaches.
Over thirty tourists were sanctioned : all of them violated regional law 16 of 2017, which punishes with a fine ranging from 500 to 3,000 euros «anyone who removes, holds or sells even small quantities of sand, pebbles, stones or shells coming from the coast or the sea in the absence of regular authorization or concession issued by the competent authorities".
Among the artefacts seized there are also around a hundred "eyes of Saint Lucia" taken from the "La Ciaccia" beach in the municipality of Valledoria.
The seized marine finds, kept in the customs offices of Olbia, will be relocated to the beaches from which they were removed.
