The heavy rains that fell between 16 and 17 April in Nurra allowed Enas to reactivate the pumping that allows the water to be conveyed from the Padria weirs to the Temo reservoir. At present, the operations have allowed the transfer of over 200,000 cubic metres of water per day . The plant, consisting of three groups of 1 cubic metre per second (cubic metre per second) and three of 500 l/s (litre per second), currently works with 2 large pumps and one small one, for a flow rate of 2.5 cubic metres per second derived towards the reservoir.
At the request of the Department of Public Works, Enas is working to put into operation for the first time ever, all the groups at the same time, with some system adjustments and emergency maintenance of an impeller, which was found to be out of order when turned on, to derive all 2.5 m3/s, also in anticipation of the new rain events, expected between Sunday and Monday. Today, Friday 18 April, the performance of the operations will be verified.
For the Nurra Land Reclamation Consortium, it is still not enough . The rains of recent days have brought 440 thousand cubic meters of water into the Tempo, Cuga and Bidighinzu basins, a still scarce quantity that forces the president of Anbi Sardegna, Gavino Zirattu, to implement a restriction plan , sacrificing some crops.
He announced this yesterday during the meeting with farmers called to Porta Terra, in the village of Alghero, to communicate the decisions that will be taken regarding the irrigation campaign, in which certain crops will be given preference, such as olive groves and vineyards, while other crops such as watermelons and melons will not be irrigable .
