Following recent weeks of tension within the FENU majority, Local Police Councilor Marco Canu has resigned. The news was announced in a statement, stating, "Supervening professional demands require me, with regret, to leave my position in the Nuoro municipal administration. This is a difficult decision, as it means ending an experience to which I have dedicated commitment and passion, aware of the trust placed in me by the Uniti movement and the mayor, whom I thank. My work has had a specific goal: to contribute to the well-being of the city. A commitment shared every day with the people who bring the administration to life and enable its decisions. I thank the managers for their expertise, availability, and the work we have done together. I entrust to their care and professionalism the ideas and projects developed in recent months: mobility initiatives, including car sharing to Sardinia's airports; the first intervention to combat ailanthus in the city; the restoration of the Viale Ciusa path; and the "alberiAMO Nuoro" urban tree planting project."
My gratitude goes to the officials, technicians, and employees who have donated their time, energy, and collaboration. I have met people capable of going beyond the strict requirements of their roles, driven by a genuine concern for the city and a particular passion for caring for urban greenery. A special thanks to the local police officers, present during events and emergencies, often with shifts and commitments that take away time from personal and family life. Thanks to the Municipality, its employees, and its legal representative, for their daily work and for their willingness to work together to improve services. I thank those who generously and civic-mindedly make themselves available to the city; those who stayed beyond their normal working hours to ensure the success of an event; and the committees and associations that offered ideas and collaboration for Monte Ortobene and so many other places in our community. I leave this position with regret and gratitude for what we have shared. I hope that the work begun will continue and be fully realized. It was a pleasure working for the city and with all the people who take care of it every day."
