Nuoro, the Local Health Authority (ASL) raises the alarm: "Watch out for that text message."
An invitation to dial a toll-free number – sometimes with very high costs – for information that "concerns the citizen"Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
A text message that has been circulating in the last few hours on the cell phones of many citizens of Nuoro , and to which the local health authority urges maximum attention.
The message invites you to contact alleged "ASI offices" at 89342264, claiming that there are "communications concerning you." Moreover, the 893 telephone prefix is used for paid services that can involve very high costs.
The acronym "ASI"—deliberately ambiguous—can easily be confused with that of the ASL, the Local Health Authority. For this reason, the Nuoro Local Health Authority (ASL) No. 3 has intervened to deny any involvement and has stated that it has not activated any such telephone number.
A note clarifies that Nuoro's Local Health Authority (ASL 3) does not send messages requesting contact with the Call Center. "Users are advised," the note continues, "not to attempt to contact the number in the received message and to report such cases to law enforcement."
The ASI - Automotoclub Storico Italiano, following reports of text messages inviting people to contact “ASI offices” using numbers such as 893XXXX, also denies any connection with this communication.
This is effectively a telephone scam , which has already been reported in other Italian cities.
Maximum attention, therefore, to avoid falling into the trap.
