A weekend of tension and discomfort, for a change, at San Francesco in Nuoro. A paradoxical situation. The ambulances arrive, even from Benetutti and Baronia, but they cannot "deliver" the patients to that hospital structure that should give answers to an entire territory and that instead appears increasingly in trouble.

"The emergency room is short of stretchers," says Mauro Pintore, provincial secretary of Nursind. "The situation is dramatic right now. Apparently there are only 5 or 6 usable stretchers, about twenty are needed. It's a shame that almost all of them are broken."

Staff shortages are now a constant. In Nuoro there is a lack of doctors in all departments, as well as nurses. "We only have Oss", states Mauro Pintore, "as for nurses, there are more than a hundred who are missing from the staff. However, it is the lack of doctors that is most worrying. In recent years the situation has even worsened: we need a hundred".

In short, a hospital increasingly in difficulty, where even stretchers are in short supply. "In the last few hours a patient fell from a bed that did not have the necessary sides," concludes Pintore, "Monday, as a workers' representative for safety, a meeting is planned to discuss this problem."
