Costantino Contena, accompanied by his lawyer Gianfranco Careddu, turned himself in, the 40-year-old from Nuoro who fled to a police checkpoint this morning.

Driving an Alfa Romeo Mito, Contena had forced through a checkpoint, triggering a shootout with the wounding of a policeman.

The 40-year-old then abandoned the car, fleeing on foot.

After hours of searches by the police, the man finally handed himself over to the police station to the head of the Nuoro mobile team Fabio Di Lella.

The investigations into the incident are coordinated by the prosecutor on duty Ilaria Bradamante.
