A serious traffic accident occurred this morning around noon at the intersection of Viale Trieste and Via Brigata Sassari. Two cars were involved in the collision: an Alfa Romeo 159, driven by a 46-year-old man, and a Renault Clio, driven by a 71-year-old.
The impact was particularly violent, and according to initial investigations, failure to yield right of way may have been the cause of the accident. The driver of the Renault Clio, a 71-year-old man with underlying health conditions, was taken to San Francesco Hospital in Nuoro in critical condition. His condition is serious, but further details on his health are currently unknown.
