Nuoro, but the problem is general, continues to empty. In a few years, thousands of inhabitants have been lost with the capital of Barbagia down to just over 33 thousand residents . And as happens in other parts, it is mainly the young who leave.

The award ceremony of the ninth edition of the ''Rondine d'oro'' prize, given to those who have brought prestige to the city, not only in every corner of the world, but also by staying, becomes an opportunity for reflection and proposals. According to Antonio Fancello, president of the association ''Barbagia nel mondo'', promoter of the prize, «we need a law that can encourage the return of those who would like to return to the island, to make available the great experiences acquired».

Fancello formulates the proposal in front of the President of the Region Alessandra Todde who, precisely for her journey of returning to the Island after years in various countries of the world, is one of the seven people awarded. Also receiving the award are Elias Sagheddu, who returned after various experiences outside the island, Elisa Medde who ''ran away'' in search of opportunities (found) in Amsterdam, Luigi Loddo who has been working for years in Honduras, Don Salvatore Lecca a missionary in India, Achille Flore, a life in his shop in Nuoro and a memorial award to Giovanni Cocco from Cagliari, one of the pioneers of commerce in the capital of Barbagia.
