One of the largest marijuana plantations ever discovered in Italy has been identified in Sardinia: over 35,000 plants planted and 13,000 in the drying phase, weighing approximately 3.5 tons. If released into the illegal retail market, the drug could have fetched approximately €31 million.

The operation was conducted by Carabinieri from the Nuoro Provincial Command, who arrested four people in the municipalities of Orani, Silanus, and Buddusò. The investigating judge ordered their detention at the request of the local Public Prosecutor's Office. A fifth person is under investigation.
The charge is that of jointly producing narcotic substances.
