Emiliano Fenu, M5S deputy and Campo Largo candidate, is the new mayor of Nuoro.

The Five Star Movement representative received a congratulatory phone call from his direct opponent, Giuseppe Luigi Cucca , head of the centre-right civic lists.

According to data released by the centre-left parties, Fenu is credited with around 60%, a percentage that gives him victory in the first round.

"I wished Emiliano Fenu the best. I also told him that I am available for the good of Nuoro and ours and mine will be a constructive opposition", declared Cucca , admitting defeat.

Fenu also received congratulations from the leader of the M5S Giuseppe Conte: "I am proud of the great victory of our Emiliano Fenu, the new M5S mayor of Nuoro . We fought side by side against the government's cuts to families and businesses in the Budget, for a tax on extra profits to banks, for a bit of justice in this country. Faced with the call of his land, he put himself on the line in the administrative elections, even though it is never easy for the Movement between clienteles and consolidated local potentates. And he won in the first round . He will fight like a lion for his territory . Forza Emiliano, forza Movimento!", wrote Conte on Facebook.

Also at the victory party in her city was governor Alessandra Todde : «Nuoro chooses to start again, and to do it together with Emiliano Fenu, an authoritative, capable mayor. Emiliano won. Because he is credible. Because his seriousness is recognized and respected by everyone. Because he does not need slogans, the facts will speak for themselves, the concreteness that distinguishes him.

My greatest compliments and best wishes for a job well done, full of trust and esteem. This is also, and above all, a political victory. After the regional elections - Todde concluded - Nuoro also confirms the strength of the progressive camp: a united, solid, coherent coalition".
