Local police are conducting further investigations into the tragic fall that claimed the life of Francesco Mureddu, 91, originally from Fonni but a longtime resident of Nuoro. He was admitted to the intensive care unit of San Francesco Hospital in critical condition on Thursday and died over the weekend.

This morning, local police officers conducted some investigations to further their reconstruction of the incident, which occurred around 1:00 PM on Thursday on Via Manzoni, not far from a bank. According to the reconstruction so far, the elderly man, who was using a brace, lost his balance, falling heavily and hitting his head hard on the asphalt.

Mureddu was transported to San Francesco Hospital in a red code ambulance, escorted by a local police car. His condition immediately appeared very serious, partly due to the severe head trauma he suffered in the fall. Initial investigations suggested a single-vehicle accident.

Reconstructing the dynamics of the accident remains the focus of the local police investigations, as they work to clarify every aspect of the accident that ended with the elderly man's death.
