It's been 15 months since the death of Sandro Delrio, the 58-year-old ASL auxiliary, who died on December 28, 2023 during a soccer game with friends. The cause of his death, which occurred on the pitch of the Multipurpose gym in Nuoro, is still a mystery. His wife, Sabrina Lunesu, a nurse and mother of two sons, Marco and Andrea, has launched an appeal for answers.
The chronicle of the facts
Immediately after the funeral, the Nuoro Public Prosecutor's Office ordered the seizure of the body and the autopsy, entrusted to the coroner Matteo Nioi. The examination was requested to exclude any pathologies, since Sandro was a man in perfect health, a regular blood donor and accustomed to physical exertion.
The delays
In October 2024, nine months after the autopsy, the report had not yet been filed. "At our request," emphasizes the family's lawyer Mauro Intagliata, "at the beginning of March, the Prosecutor's Office informed us that histological tests were scheduled for the following week." After a year and a half, Sabrina Lunesu and her lawyer express concern about the delays.
The situation is becoming unbearable for the family members who have asked for clarification on the timely use of the defibrillator, which was not used on the field at the time of the accident. The question that remains unanswered is whether the defibrillator was reachable and who should manage it in case of emergency. Two people are under investigation. Sabrina, with the help of her lawyer, has sent compensation requests to the Municipality, owner of the structure, and to the company that manages it.
