Nuraghe neighborhood: first the fight between neighbors, then the beatings, finally the rush in an ambulance to the emergency room of San Francesco in Nuoro and the hospitalization in intensive care in critical condition.

The brawl in via Togliatti between two neighbors, which ended with bat attacks, risks turning into a tragedy. Both were injured. The one who fared the worst was Gianni Fancello, 56, who was hospitalized with a serious head injury and in critical condition in the intensive care unit of the San Francesco hospital in Nuoro.

The other contender, Giampaolo Porcu, 46, was also hospitalized with a head injury due to the beatings. The baseball bat, used by both, was later found broken at the scene of the fight. The police officers intervened on the scene, and until late in the evening they were carrying out surveys in the building where the furious fight took place.

The assault

The fight happened yesterday in the early afternoon, around 2:30 pm in a municipal building on via Togliatti in the Nuraghe neighborhood, on the outskirts of the city. A building known in Nuoro as the building of the evacuees. Where in the past there have been several attacks between tenants and reports of illegal occupation. The two neighbors faced each other, 56-year-old Fancello and Giampaolo Porcu, 46, both from Nuoro, who clearly had old frictions. Little else is known about the reason for the fight, no details have leaked out, even if the other residents said that the two were seeing each other and were often seen together. According to an initial reconstruction under investigation, it could have been Fancello who attacked Porcu as soon as he returned home from work. A blow to the back of the head with the bat, very violent. But that would not have knocked out Porcu immediately, who evidently managed to react and snatch the club from his attacker and in turn hit Fancello. The fight and the screams attracted the other residents who immediately alerted the emergency services.

The investigations

When the patrol cars arrived, the officers had a hard time restoring calm in the building, so much so that two ambulances were needed for the injured. One of the two contenders, Fancello, was particularly agitated and was showing difficulties, so much so that the paramedics had to give him sedatives to be able to treat him, load him into an ambulance and take him to the emergency room under the escort of some police patrols. Porcu, who was injured, also had to seek treatment from the emergency room doctors. Both suffered serious head injuries from the blows received. Fancello, once he arrived at the emergency room conscious, was then transferred to intensive care where he is hospitalized in critical condition. The violence of the blows is testified by the baseball bat found broken in two. The officers are interviewing witnesses, in the meantime some complaints have been filed at large.
