A 73-year-old man, GAS, originally from Mamoiada but resident in the city, was arrested last night in Nuoro following a police intervention for a family dispute. The man was arrested on charges of resisting a public official, threatening and illegal possession of weapons.

The alarm was raised after a woman called the emergency number , reporting the presence of a man armed with a knife, clearly in a state of alteration, and a violent argument in progress.

Two police cars quickly arrived on the scene, in the Trenino district's public housing. The officers found the man, in via Martiri della Libertà, in the Nuraghe neighborhood, visibly agitated and with a knife in his hand. Despite repeated requests to drop the weapon, the man refused to obey. After a few tense moments, he was stopped and arrested.

During the search, the officers also found a loaded gun, hidden in his waistband: it appears that he was legally held. The man was taken to the police station under arrest and is now at the disposal of the judicial authorities. Further investigations into the origin of the firearm are underway
