Amid the heatwave currently affecting Sardinia, with temperatures approaching 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit), a burst main supplying the municipalities of Nuoro and Mamoiada threatens to disrupt the water supply. Abbanoa announced the news, noting that it has already dispatched emergency response teams to the site to repair the main. The break affects a section of the aqueduct that was already scheduled for repair as part of the network modernization program.

The company emphasizes that a significant portion of the infrastructure has already been renovated in recent years. In the meantime, water supply will be guaranteed thanks to the reserves accumulated in the reservoirs. However, once these reserves are exhausted, pressure drops and temporary interruptions in service may occur in both Nuoro and Mamoiada.

Abbanoa assures that service will gradually return to normal once the pipeline repairs are completed, with full water supply restored. This incident comes on a particularly sensitive day from a climate perspective, with intense heat making water availability even more critical for families, businesses, and essential services. Technicians are working to minimize the repair time and limit disruption to the public.
