A few days ago, alongside Governor Alessandra Todde, he attended the announcement of the imminent launch of the shuttle service that, starting July 27, will connect Nuoro station by road to the Abbasanta railway. This triumphalism was not well received by Claudio Solinas, president of the Trenitalia Nuorese committee, who has always fought to connect Italy's only provincial capital without a rail link to the RFI network. Now, Mayor Emiliano Fenu explains further that this is only "an important first response, made possible by the commitment of the Sardinia Region. But a road link, however useful, cannot replace the rail infrastructure that central Sardinia needs."

For this reason, the mayor of Nuoro announced that he has written to the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, "to request a final decision on the Nuoro-Abbasanta line and the immediate launch of the technical and economic feasibility study for the new electrified line." He outlined the milestones (RFI's feasibility document was completed at the end of 2024 and submitted to the Ministry in 2025) and emphasized that "after eighteen months, the evaluation period must be considered concluded: now we must move on to the design phase." The municipality is focusing on the P3 alternative, "51 kilometers of track between Nuoro-Pratosardo and Abbasanta, with stops in Ottana and Sedilo."

Fenu recalls that the railway "means improved access to healthcare, universities, supporting businesses and tourism, and is strategic for SOS Enattos's bid to host the Einstein Telescope: it's unthinkable to promote a major European scientific infrastructure while leaving its main urban hub outside the national rail network." He then concludes: "I have asked the Ministry to fund the project, establish a clear timeline, and quickly convene a working meeting with RFI, the Region, and the Municipality, because Nuoro and the entire Nuoro area cannot wait any longer."
