Nuclear, Sardinian politics sceptical: «It is not the way out of coal»
From the centre-left and centre-right, no to ideological preclusions, but the current model produces waste and "Sardinia cannot host it"Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
Clean nuclear power that doesn't produce waste ? It would be ideal, the problem is that it doesn't exist, at least not yet . Therefore - this is the position of most of the exponents of the center-left and center-right - "nuclear power cannot represent the way out of coal".
This is what the leader of the Democratic Party in the Regional Council, Roberto Deriu, says, for example, regarding the statements made by Alessandra Todde at the Festival delle Regioni . First of all, a premise from the Democrat: «There are no conditions to host nuclear waste produced in Italy in Sardinia». Then: «There are currently no technologies that are sufficiently safe and clean that allow us to use nuclear energy as a way out of the current fossil fuel system, also because uranium is a fossil fuel in its own right».
According to Maria Laura Orrù, president of the Avs group , «the current model should not be taken into consideration, because it is a technology that generates waste». Paola Casula of Sinistra Futura recalls the recent majority summit on this very issue: «On that occasion, opposition to waste was reiterated, and to today's nuclear power that produces it, just as the Sardinians decided with the referendum. Obviously, the nuclear option should be considered if it is clean and safe. But at this time, what is being proposed by the government's delegation law does not represent those conditions».
The center-right calls for maximum sharing in the event of future decisions by this Council . "We would not like that, as already happened with renewables, decisions are taken by a few to the detriment of all and above all against their will", is the position of Paolo Truzzu of FdI , "furthermore, also considering the recent referendum pronouncements, it is good that any decision goes through a discussion with the Sardinian people". That said, "we too have always had a pragmatic and non-ideological position on energy and nuclear energy in particular". Stefano Tunis of Sardegna al centro 20Venti goes on the attack: "Todde has publicly declared that he is in favor of nuclear energy, as long as it is clean. The main characteristic of "clean nuclear" is that it does not exist, that of Todde to say random nonsense in general, on energy matters in particular".
On the union front, the Cgil supports the need to "focus on hydrogen, a technology that allows us to combine the use of renewable sources for a truly green and non-climate-altering vector. A model that, unlike nuclear, does not raise the issue of waste and environmental risks". The secretary of the Cisl Pier Luigi Ledda welcomes the governor's words with attention and respect, but invites a debate on the issue and then specifies how the Region's "no to fission power plants and a possible nuclear waste storage in Sardinia is considered correct and coherent, in compliance with the will expressed by the Sardinian people through the referendum".
