July was a record-breaking month for tourism in northern Sardinia, with Alghero leading the way and a veritable boom in foreign visitors to Sassari . Positive numbers were reported by the Federalberghi Confcommercio Nord Ovest Sardegna (Bergers and Commerce Association of North-West Sardinia), which released its initial assessment of the past month.

In the facilities in the northern part of the island, out of over 114 thousand beds and 51 thousand rooms monitored over the 31 days of the month, the average occupancy rate stood at 84.21%, a slight increase compared to the 83.23% recorded in the same period in 2025 .

More than seven out of ten tourists come from abroad (72.34%) , the highest percentage ever recorded in July. Alghero is leading the sector, closing the month with its highest figures ever . Of the approximately 30,000 rooms analyzed, occupancy reached 88.45% , an increase of over five percentage points compared to last year. Actual bed occupancy is also increasing, with a decline in double rooms for single use and triple rooms occupied by two people.

In the Catalan center, foreigners represent 77.55% of guests. In the Gulf of Asinara, occupancy stands at 78.33% , down from the historic peak of 83.99% reached in 2025, but higher than any July in previous years. This figure is influenced by the influence of hotels in the city of Sassari: considering only the coastal resorts, the share of international tourists (not room occupancy) rises to 82%, even exceeding the figures for Alghero.

"July's data confirms Northern Sardinia's attractiveness on foreign markets, but the goal must be to strengthen these flows," explains Stefano Visconti, president of Federalberghi Confcommercio Nord Ovest Sardegna . "In this sense, the destination agreement between associations, the chamber of commerce system, several municipalities throughout Northern Sardinia, and the ports of Alghero and Olbia was created precisely to coordinate supply and promote the region throughout the year."
