A beautiful story of honesty comes from Guilcier, told by a guest at the reception center accredited by the Prefecture in the "Caddaris" area, managed by the Bianco e Nero company, which currently hosts around thirty people.

The report was made by retired school principal Agostino Mele, 79 , who had lost his wallet but was able to get it back thanks to the compassionate efforts of Gopal Arun, a 25-year-old from India. After finding it, he returned it to its rightful owner through the facility's manager, Tore Casula.

The testimony

"I realized I'd lost it on Monday evening," Mele said, "and yesterday morning, while I was going to the Carabinieri to report it missing, they returned it to me. As you can imagine, I was very happy, as I had kept all my personal documents and bank cards. I publicly and sincerely thank this person for acting so correctly. I don't know if others would have done the same." Agostino Mele wanted to meet the person responsible for this gesture in person at his home to thank him and shake his hand . A beautiful conclusion to the story, confirming that the villagers have always had an excellent relationship with the guests of the reception centers, even when their presence was much greater. The community has never perceived their presence as negative, also because the reception system had also created job opportunities.

Integration

Until 2015, the Nuraghe Ruiu municipal campsite hosted around a hundred people of various nationalities seeking international protection. Here, they studied Italian, a crucial step in integrating asylum seekers. Through sports, examples of inclusion among several young people were not uncommon .

It's worth noting that the campground employed 14 people, including cultural mediators, psychologists, administrative staff, waiters, bartenders, and tour leaders. The hospitality system had generated a livelihood, which had a positive impact on the local economy and the surrounding area. Then, 10 years ago, fulfilling a promise made before the elections, the municipal administration decided that the campground should be returned to its original purpose.
