Starting next March 1st, the Noragugume retirement home, one of the most important in the area, will undergo a change of management.
After ten years, the Futura social cooperative in Macomer is leaving, replaced by the Aldia cooperative in Pavia, which has established itself throughout Italy and particularly in Sardinia. The change in management, however, involves a 30 percent increase in monthly fees, which has come as a surprise to the families of the 16 elderly residents living in the facility, who come from various towns in the area.
The new cooperative, which won the tender, is now presenting its bill, reporting a 15 percent increase in staff costs compared to previous management, resulting from recent contract renewals and the changed socioeconomic context.
To ensure full cost coverage, new pricing parameters have been established, with the monthly fee increasing from the current €1,880 to €2,375 plus VAT. This increase is deemed appropriate to ensure the structural balance of the management, while also offering a highly advantageous service package for guests.
The new rates, however, have sparked protests from the families of those staying at the facility. The situation remains uncertain, and efforts are underway to find a suitable solution for everyone. To this end, the municipal administration will convene a meeting with all the guests' families in the coming days to provide comprehensive information on the new management.
