The Municipality of Pula and the Pula Cultura Diffusa Foundation have organised a press conference for 24 June 2026 at 10 am for the opening to the public of the Western Necropolis of Nora: a discovery and an event of exceptional importance for the cultural heritage of the island .
The area of the former military base, previously closed to visitors and never included in traditional archaeological itineraries, is now accessible to visitors.
The site houses the first and still only Phoenician necropolis in Sardinia, discovered in an excellent state of preservation and investigated using rigorous scientific methods, as well as monumental Punic-era chamber tombs and evidence from the Roman era.
The press conference will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Nora archaeological site. Participants will include Walter Cabasino, Mayor of Pula; Andrea Boi, President and Director of the Pula Foundation; and Clara Pili. The meeting will discuss the details of the new tour itinerary, the scientific and anthropological findings on the origins of the ancient inhabitants, and the schedule of the University of Padua's new archaeological excavation campaign, which will resume on August 31st.
