Nobody wants it, unused and with building violations: only housing expenses in Rome from the Municipality of Cagliari

Unused. Apparently unmarketable. And even abused. Ownership of an apartment on the fifth floor of a building at Via Achille Loria 15, Rome, only entails expenses for the Municipality of Cagliari. It was supposed to be a representative office in the capital. But no one uses the property, the administration can't sell it, and now a finding of building irregularities has surfaced, for which Palazzo Bacaredda has had to fork out five thousand euros.
The municipal building in Rome has a long history. Every year, it receives thousands of euros in condominium fees. But it's not frequented. So much so, that it's been part of a property sale plan for some time now, at a price of €650,000.
Not many, considering the apartment is in a residential area in the Fleming neighborhood. However, there are no buyers.
A very recent decision by the head of the Municipal Heritage Service shows that in 2024 "deviations from the approved project were detected and therefore" it was "necessary to proceed with the application for amnesty."
For the case, "Rome Capitale issued a payment notice for the construction costs of the non-compliant works, plus fines for internal works carried out without a permit and administrative fees, totaling €4,289." The Municipality of Cagliari paid in July. But it was known that the sum was only an estimate.
The final bill arrived from Rome on November 17th: the process cost over €5,700. The City Hall offices have now completed the payment.
Money spent on an apartment that nobody wants.
