Giovannica Manca, affectionately known as Nina, recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Born in Teulada a hundred years ago, she now lives in Giba, surrounded by her loving family.

Teulada Mayor Angelo Milia visited her a few days ago, personally conveying the best wishes of the municipal administration and the entire Teulada community.

"It was a great pleasure to meet Mrs. Nina and convey the best wishes of all of Teulada on this momentous milestone," says Milia. "One hundred years of life represent a legacy of memories, experiences, and values that belong not only to the family, but to the entire community. Nina's story reminds us how precious our roots are, and the people who have contributed, with their lives, to building our community."

The mayor was welcomed by the centenarian's family, to whom Milia extended a special thank you for their hospitality and for sharing such a significant moment.

"I sincerely thank Nina's family for their wonderful welcome," the mayor added. "These are simple yet profoundly meaningful moments, because they allow us to gather around the people and stories that represent our community. Celebrating Nina also means celebrating a piece of Teulada's history."

The Giba municipal administration, represented by Deputy Mayor Alberto Pittoni, also took part in the celebration, paying tribute to their fellow citizen on this important birthday.

Nina's achievement also fits into the unique context of longevity that characterizes the Sulcis region and, more generally, Sardinia. Teulada is in fact located in the so-called Sardinian Blue Zone, an area known for its significant concentration of long-lived people.

"The longevity of our elders is one of the aspects that makes Sardinia famous throughout the world," Milia emphasizes. "Nina is further testimony to this extraordinary history. But behind the figure of one hundred years, there is above all a life, a family, a community, and a legacy of memories that deserve to be preserved and passed down."

For Teulada, therefore, Nina's birthday is not only a special one, but an opportunity to pay homage to one of his daughters and to a generation that has gone through a century of profound changes.

"Once again, on behalf of myself and the entire community of Teulada, I extend my most sincere best wishes to Nina," Mayor Milia concluded. "We wish her health, serenity, and many more happy moments with her wonderful family. One hundred years is an extraordinary milestone, and we are proud to share it with her."
