The 17 Nigerians arrested in May 2025 between Sassari and the mainland and charged with mafia-style criminal conspiracy have been sent for trial. In recent days, in the Cagliari courthouse , at the request of DDA prosecutors Rita Cariello and Gaetano Alberto Porcu, preliminary hearing judge Claudia Sechi ordered an in-depth investigation of all but one person, who opted for a summary trial.
According to the charges and investigations conducted by the State Police, coordinated by several prosecutors, the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, a drug trafficking organization, managed the heroin and cocaine trade in various locations—San Donato in the Sassari area—through a hierarchy of figures, from the Executioner at the top to the Emeretus and so on down the hierarchy, via couriers, informants, cashiers, and retailers. The drugs would have arrived via routes to Spain, France, the Netherlands, and the African continent. Among the charges is that they intimidated fellow Italians to force them to join the organization.
The first hearing will be held on September 23rd before the panel of judges in the Sassari court . The defense attorneys are Elisabetta Udassi, Nicola Lucchi, Giuseppe Onorato, Francesco Sasso, Emiliano Alfonso, Carlo Pinna Parpaglia, Franco Villa, Alberto Russo, Alessio Olimpieri, Umberto Martella, Carmine Sgariglia, Stefania Albanese, and Francesco Pugliatti.
