The project of the new "Gigi Riva" stadium is being examined by the Cagliari city council.

“Construction of the new stadium of the Municipality of Cagliari according to the standards expected for international competitions, within the deadlines for hosting the 2032 European Championships - approval of the program agreement outline with the Autonomous Region of Sardinia” is the item included on the agenda of the meeting, called for tomorrow.

This is the next step following the resolution approved last week by the Regional Council.

An important formality to unlock the transfer of 50 million euros from the Region to the Municipality. The rest of the costs will then be covered by Cagliari and the Municipality itself.

In particular, Palazzo Bacaredda will have to "support the financial costs referred to in the financial economic plan under its jurisdiction".

This, however, is the breakdown of the 50 million that will arrive from the Region: 3 million immediately, 15 for the year 2024, 12 for 2025 and finally 20 million for 2026.
