Four airlines have submitted bids in response to the “New Routes” call for proposals, promoted by the Regional Department of Transport , in collaboration with the Department of Tourism and SFIRS (Financial Company of the Sardinia Region).

The Region announced this after the 60-day deadline for submitting expressions of interest for the three Sardinian airports of Cagliari, Alghero, and Olbia.

Some offers, it is explained, also include the winter season, while others only cover the summer schedule. In any case, the new routes will launch in summer 2026.

"We're seeing a positive response from the market and widespread interest across all of the island's airports," explains Transport Councillor Barbara Manca . She adds: "This is an important step toward the goal of expanding and stabilizing connections, while also supporting seasonal adjustment and accessibility to Sardinia."

The technical and economic evaluation phase of the proposals for subsequent awarding is now underway, in accordance with the criteria of the call for tenders published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), which provides for a contribution of up to 50% of airport costs to facilitate the launch of new connections.

"We will continue," Manca concludes, "to carefully monitor the tender process until the new routes are activated, which will be operational starting in summer 2026, for the benefit of residents, businesses, and tourism."
