She turned 101 on Christmas Eve. Narbolia celebrated Reparata Meloni, a vigorous centenarian who continues to be the guardian of many memories of her community. In the morning, Mayor Gian Giuseppe Vargiu visited her, presenting her with the tricolor sash, and Parish Priest Antonello Angioni greeted her and offered her well-wishes, along with the customary photo opportunity.

Then came a flurry of phone calls and meetings with family and fellow villagers. It was a busy day for the birthday girl, who lives with her sisters Francesca and Maria. Embroidery has been a major part of her life (she is considered one of the most skilled embroiderers in Sardinia). She and her sisters also launched a knitwear business. The secret to her longevity? Narbolia native Reparata Meloni has built up a wealth of antibodies through hard work and dedication.

Now, with optimism, shown with many smiles, he has surpassed the 100-year barrier.
