The Christmas of the Narboliese community was enriched by the celebration for the hundredth birthday of Mrs. Reparata Meloni, born on December 24, 1924. The centenarian celebrated the prestigious milestone in her home, in the presence of relatives and friends. Here, the thanksgiving mass was also celebrated by the parish priest Don Antonello Angioni and the priest of the town Don Isidoro Marongiu, now retired. The mayor Gian Giuseppe Vargiu – on behalf of the municipal administration and the entire population – presented her with a commemorative plaque .
Those who joined the party around the old lady recalled many anecdotes from the past and from a life that was certainly not always easy. Single, the centenarian lives with her other two sisters Maria and Francesca, also in their nineties, while the other two brothers and a sister (Ferdinando, Antonio and Sisinnia) died at an advanced age .
"Mrs. Meloni," says Mayor Vargiu, " was in her own way one of the first entrepreneurs in the town, working in the knitwear sector, where she practically made sweaters for the entire town. The classic example of a woman who grew up without ever sparing herself at the cost of many sacrifices, considering the period in which she was born."
