Kiosks that at a certain hour become open-air discos, music at full blast in the middle of the street to entertain customers until dawn. The authorized discos protest, through the Silb, the association that brings together companies that operate in the nighttime entertainment sector. There was recently a meeting between the representatives of Silb, Confcommercio and the Municipality of Alghero. A crucial meeting, eagerly awaited by the members, that focused on a theme that has now become of pressing urgency: the rampant illegal activity that is seriously compromising the vitality and legality of the sector, in particular of local discos.
The regional president of Silb, Piero Muresu, and the president of the territorial Confcommercio of Alghero, Massimo Cadeddu, were present. Both highlighted an increasingly critical situation: numerous bars, kiosks and other improvised venues are turning, with alarming frequency, into real illegal discos. Some businesses happen to operate outside of any rules, systematically violating the time limits imposed by municipal ordinances and, even more seriously, ignoring fundamental safety standards. "We can no longer tolerate unauthorized businesses operating undisturbed, violating every rule and damaging those who invest in legality, respecting the rules and the safety of their customers," Muresu said.
"It's a matter of fair competition and safety for citizens," added Cadeddu. "We ask for full and unconditional respect for municipal ordinances regarding the diffusion of music and the cessation of these abusive practices that damage the entire sector." Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto carefully welcomed the requests presented by representatives of the sector, in a meeting that marks a first, but fundamental, concrete step towards close collaboration between trade associations and municipal administration in the common interest of the territory.
