The preliminary investigations judge of the Tempio Pausania Court, Federica Distefano, issued the warrant for the position of Mohamed Maher Abdou Elkhodary , the 20-year-old Egyptian man accused of killing Barletta street artist Pietro Sciusco on Corso Umberto in Olbia. The judge confirmed the arrest and ordered his detention, granting the requests of prosecutor Noemi Mancini.

Elkhodary denied being the killer but admitted being the person appearing in the video footage documenting the Apulian's tragic death. In effect, albeit indirectly, Elkhodary admitted being the person who killed Sciusco. The preliminary investigations judge's order reveals a contradictory and inconsistent reconstruction of events: Elkhodary's version appears implausible in many respects.

The young Egyptian man claimed he had never seen the victim before October 27, the day of the murder, but also said the Apulian street artist was a marijuana dealer, a claim that has no basis in fact. Investigators, meanwhile, have evidence of another stabbing, attributed to Elkhodary by a friend, which occurred a few weeks ago. His defense attorneys, Aurora Masu and Giuseppe De Meo, declined to comment.
